As promised on O.W. , here is a list of the books I want to finish reading by June of 2012:

I may add more if I have the time, but for now, these books will be my goal. I am currently reading David Copperfield, and so far its so good. One question for my small audience, would anyone happen to know which one comes first: Rose in Bloom or Eight Cousins? I have no idea.

Pride and Prejudice: A not quite finished book review

Have you ever read 2 or 3 chapters in a book and after those 2 or 3 chapters you already know that you love the book and that it will be one of your new favorites? Well guess what! I am reading Pride and Prejudice right now. And for me, its just like that. I'm only on chapter 9 or 10, but I knew back at chapter 3 that it was going to be an awesome book and a new favorite of mine. I highly recommend reading it, even though I haven't finished it myself.

Long time no see? Again??

Whew. Its been a long time since I posted here. Let's brush away the cobwebs though. Everyone, please please please tell me what you are reading and if you like it or not. This blog is just for reading... So lets read!

I recently read The Daughter of Time, its a great fictional book by Josephine Tey about the Two Princes in the Tower in London. An injured Inspector Grant sits in bed, unraveling a fictional mystery about how the poor princes deaths came about. Its a wonderful book-- Go Read It!!

I have also recently read Emily of Deep Valley, by Maud Hart Lovelace, which is about a high school graduate Emily who loves to learn and go to school, but sadly cannot go to college because she must take care of her Civil War veteran grandfather. I must have read this book a million times after I got it in the mail! In fact, I was Emily(the main character) for Halloween this past year! Now go read it!

Organic Words is having a Poetry Let's Write from now until October 31. Write Spooky Poetry for Halloween of Saintly Poetry for All Saints Day. Or write both. Your choice. Also, NaNoWriMo (nanowrimo.org) and Young Writer's NaNoWriMo (ywp.nanowrimo.org) start on November 1 and goes until midnight on November 30. Be there! (NaNoWriMo(nanowrimo.org) is for people 13 and older. Thank you.) So, just wanted to give you the same ol' run down. Also. I was thinking the Knights of the Writer's Table(Book Club 4 Organic Words) readers could do a reading project. Here is what it is. Email me if you want in....

Pick a book, whether you are reading for school or if its for fun have a book to read by December 1.
Read the book until you're done, preferably BEFORE December 28.
For a few days, think about the book. That's right. Think. Just for fun....
Then write ONE word that describes the book. Don't make it a word like fun. Or interesting. You could say that about any book. Do some research if you have to. Go to Merriam-Webster's (m-w.com)Thesaurus and look up some words that you think might describe it. The Thesaurus tells you which words are synonyms, similar, antonyms, and what the word means. Its pretty cool.
Then send the title of the book and the word to me (claire.negus@gmail.com) and I'll post it along with some New Year's stuff. Then other people can read the book and write their own description if they want. But still, send in a word, the title and let other people know about the book, whether it be a warning to keep away( the book was horrible) or to go find it as fast as possible (the book was awesome).

So email me if you want to do it and if I get enough people we will go ahead and proceed. Otherwise, here is our word for the month:

My rectangle family

So, this is my rectangle family. My off topic but interesting rectangle family. Here's a better picture....

I have a whole 'world' almost of them. I'll share more occasionally, but I wanted to see your reaction to these first....I have a farmer's market scene, a family reunion scence, etc. But since they are slightly off topic I thought I shouldn't post them too often..... Also, NaNoWriMo starts in a few week so make sure you warm up with a few writing exercises before you begin on Nov. 1!!!!!!!!!!

I'm working on a poem that's so true, I can't show it to anyone.
I could never show it to anyone.
Because it says exactly what I think, and what I think scares me.
Sometimes it pleases me.Usually it brings misery.
And this poem says exactly what I think.
What I think of myself, what I think of my friends, what I think about my lover.
Exactly.Parts of it might please them, some of it might scare them.
Some of it might bring misery.
And I don't want to hurt them, I don't want to hurt them.
I don't want to hurt anybody.I want everyone to love me.
Still, I keep working on it.Why?Why do I keep working on it?
 Nobody will ever see it. Nobody will ever see it.
I keep working on it even though I can never show it to anybody.

About the background...And a few other memos

Blogger has a wonderful tool called Blogger in Draft. (For the people who blog, its found at the bottom of the page in the resources box.) Blogger in Draft allows you to take a simple template and change the colors, images, format, and text fonts. It is more advanced than the 'Fonts and Colors' link (under the Layout tab) because it has more options. 'Fonts and Colors' is still available.

Also, April is Poetry Month and so I'd like to share with you all, an idea.

Everybody here has heard of the game Authors or a Round Robin right? They are basically the same thing. In Authors one person starts a story and the next person continues, and the person next to them continues, etc....it goes on and on until somebody feels like ending it.

A Round Robin is the same thing, but people go chapter by chapter and end up writing a book.

So here at the Head-Quarters of Organic Words and Knights of the Writer's Table we had a thought. What if we had a thing called Pass-it-Along Poetry. I write a stanza and then the first person to comment writes the second stanza and so on. So I shall begin.

The poem is called

Spring
by the wonderful readers and writers at Knights of the Writer's Table

The air is scented with the smell
Of cherry tree blossoms,
A beautiful scent in which to dwell,
The smell of cherry tree blossoms.

Now. You guys continue the poem in your own way. Maybe you should talk about the different fruits of Spring or the different sights of spring. But remember, one stanza per person so that we all get a turn. We may make the poem as long as we want, and you can do multiple stanzas, but one stanza to begin with okay?When everyone else has gone, then you can start another stanza.

Happy Thanksgiving!

To those who the senser picked up out of the US, this is just a regular Thursday. But to us Americans is a great holiday! Thanksgiving! The Macy*s day Parade, the turkey, the smell of cooking food all throughout the day. The family time, the bright glorious day, that is the day that we call Thanksgiving. Every last Thursday of November is Thanksgiving. So I said, "Hey, what about a weekend Let's Write! Not on Thursday or Friday(you can do it on Friday, but I forbid you to do one on Thursday because gosh darn its a holiday!)but over the weekend could we possibly have a potluck of Thanksgivings? Tell me what your Thanksgiving was like! The next let's Write after this(in a few weeks) will be about the rocket(which I will explain later ) and then Christmas, and then New Years and then Valentines and so on. But always something inbetween if we can. I will participate in this one. If anyone does not want to participate and would rather judge, send me an email. Otherwise, it'll just be a potluck. So have a happy Thanksgiving and I hope to hear from you on Sunday!

Really funny from Nanowrimo...

I was doing my NaNoWriMo and was looking at the home page and saw this funny question and answer collum.

Q: Running Man With Pencil, you were the logo for National Novel Writing Month for five years until being replaced by a horned shield. Are you bitter? And what are you going to do now?
A: Bitter? Whatever, man. I’ve always been a runner, always pushing myself, and life after NaNo for me is just another set of big, fun, and scary challenges.

I’ll admit that my first few forays into the workplace weren’t that successful. I tried leveraging my celebrity status for some endorsement deals, but everyone wanted me to show up with the pencil. Now, I know that the pencil looks nice and shiny in the logo, but
after five years of writing, sharpening, erasing, and the occasional ring of chew marks – well, it’s not beautiful in anyone’s eyes but my own nowadays.

So instead, I’m going freelance, just contracting my services as an inspirational and motivational metaphor. I’m doing what I love, and it’s almost going too well. For instance, in June I accidentally inspired people to stage a celebrity riot for a barista in Tucson.

Oh, and then there was the time I accidentally over-motivated a step aerobics class, and caused a stampede.

And then there was Valentine’s Day. Right. It’s probably best if I don’t mention that.

And I really, really didn’t intend this one, but last week, I somehow ended up motivating a horde of space aliens to invade Earth. Don’t worry – I’m currently putting together a squad of ninjas, combat librarians, beekeepers, graphic designers, and pro golfers to defend the planet. I can’t say more, but you might be surprised to see who’s
missing from the PGA tour next year…

And now if you'll excuse me, we’re entering diplomatic talks with the Hive Queen of the Oxa’olorth next month, and I really should finish writing the Oxa’olortic-English Dictionary by then. Fortunately, the Oxa'olorans only have 50,000 words in their vocabulary. I think I can handle it.

So.

Tuesday Typewriters is to see how many words you can make from one given word(on a Tuesday) in 5 minuets. To participate, at any given time go to http://www.online-stopwatch.com/ or I will try to put it on both Organic Words and here, and set the timer for 5 minuets then press start and start writing! When the time goes out, stop your work. Microsoft and most writing software have a tool which counts how many words are there. Comment saying how many words you made and see how many words other people can think of in the same amount of time.

Write-a-Thons are by request only. Write-a-Thons are much like NaNoWriMo and Tuesday Typewriters except for the fact that they are for 2 months. Any topic. Again, the goal is to see how long you can make it.

Microsoft Mondays are like a Let's Write except that they have to be about a book you've read and there is a 7 day time limit(One Monday to the Next) You may start these at any time during that week. This Monday(today) is not a Microsoft Monday, but Tuesday Typewriters start tomorrow.
